'Petta' directed by Karthik Subbaraj is a massive project and has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
However, online piracy is plaguing the industry and eating up a larger chunk of revenue. The court had ordered more than 12,000 websites to be blocked. Tamilrockers managed to leak the film after the release. Recently, the producers of '2.0' starring Rajinikanth had moved to the Madras High Court to prevent the pirated version of the film to be leaked online. Rajnikanth's looks have been very impressive. Action scenes have been impressive with Rajnikanth's style and presence and also with good camera work, color, lighting etc. Trisha and Simran have been cast for namesake.The plot is just an eyewash - nothing much. Lack of heroines in the movie also made it a little difficult to get through the movie. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has a slightly more significant role, but he also did not get the respect he deserves from the film.
On a related note, Fahad Fazil not taking up the role in Manirathnam's Chikka Chivantha Vaanam as it did not appeal to him is commendable.
It was almost painful to see Vijay Sethupathi like that on the screen having seen amazing larger than life performances of his recently in Seethakathi,Vikram Vedha etc. Karthik Subburaj seemed to have been totally lost in Rajni. Vijay Sethupathi has been wasted in a completely insignificant role. Some action scenes have Anirudh's music as the background - he has definitely been able to put in a lot of energy into the screen with his music. Anirudh has done a great job with the music for such a young artist. Rajnikanth has been presented in various guises and he has not faltered at any point. So there was more story line to the movie than what I had expected. That is the theme of the movie - Rajnikanth. In hind sight, the scenes that did not get the care were the ones that were not focused on Rajnikanth. There were scenes that worked very well, while there were also scenes that reflected lack of attention. For a sixty eight year old man to bring in so much energy into the screen with his intense facial expressions and even with action scenes speaks of his dedication and ability to bring in all his energies into what he is doing. The intensity that Rajnikanth brings to some shots is truly inspiring.
